Reebok Fitwatch Heart Rate Monitor Watch
Reebok Fitwatch 10S Strapless Heart Rate Monitor Watch (Blue)

Manufacturer: Reebok
Time of day, calendar and alarm / Backlight for easy low light viewing / Water resistant / EKG accurate / 100 hour stopwatch and countdown timer
Amazon.com Product Description:
Specifically made for women, with its lightweight and slender design, this all-in-one heart rate monitor and sports watch by Reebok uses a patented method called "pulse technology" to measure the electrical pulses sent out by your heart each time it beats. Of course, the amazing part is that it works by finger touch rather than the cumbersome chest strap used by most other heart monitors. Within four seconds of touching the sensors on the watch, you can get not only an accurate heart rate reading, but also the number of calories burned during your workout.
The monitor has a programmable heart rate zone with audible and visual alarms to alert you when you get out of zone, plus a settable alarm if you have a maximum rate you should not exceed. Made from durable plastic and fully water-resistant, the device also features regular watch functions, plus a 100-hour stopwatch and countdown timer. It comes with a complete walking and exercise guide and one-year warranty.
About Reebok
Reebok's United Kingdom-based ancestor company was founded for one of the best reasons possible: athletes wanted to run faster. So, in the 1890s, Joseph William Foster made some of the first known running shoes with spikes in them. By 1895, he was in business making shoes by hand for top runners; and before long his fledgling company, J.W. Foster and Sons, developed an international clientele of distinguished athletes. In 1958, two of the founder's grandsons started a companion company that came to be known as Reebok, named for an African gazelle.

Does the job, also a nice watch.
Bought this earlier this year when I was planning to get back to the gym. Saw the comments re: having to push two buttons to get a heart reading, and yes, that's awkward, especially when you're in the heat of a spin class, but it's not so difficult and it's a lot easier than strapping on a wire. So in my opinion, totally worth it. Looks nice, too.
Liked this one so much that I bought it twice - second time was to replace it, after I lost my first one on vacation.

Calorie count way off
I received this watch as a gift. After wearing if for a couple of months doing aerobics, tennis, walking etc I found the calorie count to be way off. There is just no way I spent that many calories. I returned the watch. And I agree the heart rate monitor is a pain to operate. Looking for a new heart rate watch with an accurate calorie count.

Reebok Fitwatch10SStrapless Heart Rate Monitor Watch
Alhtough this was an inexpensive heart rate monitor I was drawn to its simplicity and strapless operation. Trouble is it only recorded my heart rate about a quarter of the time. I tried getting it wet underneath and on probes as recommended(and doing a lot of slobbering; but it still seldom worked. Just finally beeped and went back to the time. It is also difficult to press probes while running and hold and wait. If you want just a watch and timer it is ok. Does not record amount of time spent in "zone" that you set. Not recommended.

I love this watch
I had the bigger unisex version of this watch and I really like the women's size. I use this watch all the time and I love it. The only thing I'm not convinced works accurately is the calorie burning portion - it seems much too high - but I like the rest of the features and I use all of them. Good watch!!

Heart rate monitor review
I have been happy with my purchase. It is easy to use and appears pretty accurate, even when taking my heart rate while jumping or running. The calories seem a little high, but you need to remember to press start while you are still at a resting heart rate. This watch has helped me monitor my exertion level and is fun to see how many calories I've burned after a workout.

By itself, the A4 makes a good training aid, but it's particularly valuable when paired with any Polar transmitter, as the two together offer continuous heart rate monitoring. As a result, you'll know what your heart rate is throughout your workout, rather than only when you press the button. Plus, the A4 offers all the standard sports watch functions, including an alarm, calendar, stopwatch, backlight, and target zone alarms. The watch also offers a calorie counting function and exercise file record when combined with a chest strap transmitter (not included). Finally, the watch comes with a zippered black nylon carrying case for protection.

Polar A4 heart rate monitor watch
This watch works great as long as you wear the heart rate transmitter band. I do not think any of them work very well by the method of pressing with the finger. The watch has different options. You can be exercising and see your heart rate or the percentage of your target heart rate. I use it with the percentage and try to keep it between 70 and 75 percent. It beeps each ten minutes you are in the target zone. I already owned the chest strap for use on a rowing machine. The watch allows me to walk and keep up with my heart rate. It has several other features that I have not put to use yet - but might be useful to others.

Polar heart rate monitor
I wanted an inexpensive monitor to measure my heart rate while exercising and this unit works well. Combined with the Polar transmitter on the chest belt I easily maintain my heart rate at the desired level.

For its category, it works well and is a good value.
I already had a chest strap so how I use it is different than those that want the instant HR check. It takes a little time to get used to the buttons and I only learned enough to be able to record my time and ave HR, but it has been working well. The beeps for out of the HR zone are helpful and are loud enough to be heard without being annoying. It is inexpensive for a HR monitor and has worked well, so I consider it a good value.

not worth
The watch does tell time, but that is not why I purchased it. When I run, it does not tell my heart rate. I fact it is the watch that made my heart rate go up. I will never purchase another Polar product.

Worth the Money
I love this watch. It was very simple to set up and use. I have the Polar T41 band that was purchased with my treadmill 3 years ago and the watch recognized it perfectly. Great watch best price.

Q&A - Fitness Monitors
What is the Bioelectrical Impedance Method?
Bioelectrical Impedance (BI) is considered one of the most accurate and accessible methods of screening body fat. Muscles, blood vessels and bones are body tissues having a high water content that conduct electricity easily. Body fat is tissue that has little electric conductivity. The monitor sends an extremely weak electrical current through your body to determine the amount of fat tissue. The weak electrical current is not felt while operating the Body Fat Analyzer. The monitor is calculated by a formula that includes five factors; electric resistance, height, weight, age and gender.
What is visceral fat?
Visceral fat is located around the organs. Too much visceral fat is thought to be closely linked to increased level of fat in the bloodstream, which can lead to common conditions such as high cholesterol, cardiovascular disease and diabetes. Sedentary life style causes excess visceral fat, and exercise can reduce it quicker than subcutaneous fat (fat located under skin).
What is resting metabolism?
Resting metabolism is the energy to maintain vital functions and it counts 60 to 70% of total energy consumption. Knowing your resting metabolism can help your dietplan. If you can increase daily activity while keeping food intake at resting metabolism level, you can lose weight.
What is skeletal muscle?
Skeletal muscle is muscle attached to the bones that is used to move the body. If you do weight loss without exercise, you may lose skeletal muscle. Skeletal muscle is important to maintain your resting metabolism as well as your functionality. Monitoring skeletal muscle during weight loss is key to avoid weight rebound in the future.

Died after eating through batteries.
I bought this about 6 months ago and it died. It all started about 2 days after i bought it. Whenever i would hit the big button to turn on the light on the watch it would make the numbers impossible to see. I thought it was a normal reaction to dying batteries, so i replaced them (I had just received the watch). That seemed to fix the problem for about 1 week. then it started to get worse and worse. I replaced the battery 2 more times (making this bargain watch less bargain). Then yesterday it died completely when i tried to turn on the light on the watch. I will go with a polar next time. it may be more expensive, but my friends who have them are still using them while i am burying mine in the back yard in a solemn ceremony tonight. 'Ave Maria'

good purchase
I bought this for my husband when his cardiac therapist suggested he should have one at home. He finds it easy to use and the therapist said it was exactly what he needed. A good price for something that is essential for recent cardiac patients!

Excellent value and preformance
Sensory works well with moisture. A little salt in the water could start the sensor quicker before you sweat. Sometimes the sensory needs to be moved between standing and seating. I got the electrolyte gel that is used for ultrasound, it is easy to apply and works better when standing and sitting.
Replacement batteries can be found on-line in packets for significantly than getting them locally even when considering WalMart. While the rubber O ring seal for the battery opening next to chest works, it can get distorted. In which case sweat can get into the sensor which stops the signal. I was able to resurrect my sensor by using pure Reverse Osmosis or distilled water which was able to dissolve the salt inside the sender and wash it out. The sender when dried worked again. You can use waterproof tape over the battery cover as an additional backup.
The watch work well as just a watch. It has the same battery as the sender. I replaced batteries with about a 6 month interval.

Broke after 1 day
Can't recommend it. Just like other reviewers, the battery was dead after a day. After replacing battery, the item still never worked right.
Ended up throwing away since I was past my return date for Amazon (I didn't open it for a while after getting it)

great budget heart rate monitor
It is crucial that you have a lot of good quality batteries for the sensor transmitter....if not, you will have decreased range of transmission, faulty heart rate readings and shorter usage times....
I got cheap 8 packs of the batteries and I wear the monitor for 30 minute runs....after 2 weeks, I went through all my batteries....
The monitor will still work, but the range is decreased and I get faulty readings...
You have to put a conductive gel or just sweat a little on your chest in order to have adequate heart rate pickup by the sensor...
otherwise, it does what it says it will do for a good price
